The past few days I have been busy on lesson plans for the second half of this school year. At the beginning of a new school year it is always a bit hard to tell if my expectations are realistic, too easy or too advanced? At the half way point both children will move into new Math books. I love the flexibility of homeschooling. The Science seems perfect and the Social Studies a bit light so I can add the books I wanted to.

Sometimes I hate being identified with “homeschoolers” because of the bad reputation many of them have. There are as many different types of homeschoolers as there are teachers. Teachers and children come in every temperament, from lazy to diligent. I know my children gifts and failings so I am the most qualified to challenge them on and spur them to their fullest potential. That is why we homeschool.

being identified as a homeschooler is almost as bad as being identified as a Christian, of which we are both. I think the key to it is knowing why you are doing it and knowing who you are and doing your best to ignore the nay-sayers.
